Parents in child custody cases must create a Parenting Plan, or custody agreement, and submit it to the court.
In cases of Arizona child custody, each parents is required to submit a Parenting Plan, to the court with details on how each individual will continue to care for the child after the separation. Patrick Sampair at The Sampair Group provides family law services to the Phoenix Valley including child custody and the preparation of Parenting Plans.
In the ideal case, the parents will create the Parenting Plan together and then submit the plan to the court. In other cases, however, parents can go to custody court where the judge will make the decisions about the terms of the plan. An important aspect of the Parenting Plan is scheduling parenting time, or a visitation schedule, to determine how much time each parent spends with the child or children. Additionally, physical custody of the child must be decided as to where the child will live.
The term “Custody” refers to the decision making part of being a parent. The term “Parenting Time” refers to the time that the children spend with each parent. A Parenting Plan addresses both of these issues. Patrick Sampair and The Sampair Group will assist each client in creating a customized Parenting Plan that includes the visitation schedule, rights and responsibilities of each parent, reviews of the plan, and more.
