During a divorce, how long do you have to claim items when you have moved out?

Glendale divorce attorney

Question:

My friend is going through a divorce it is not yet finalized. Both have agreed my friend will keep the house. It has been two months and the ex of my friend keeps coming back to the home to claim items left behind. I was wondering if there is a time limit on coming back and claiming things. Can my friend tell their soon to be ex no?

Answer:

Since the divorce is not yet finalized the ex has no right to remove any items without a mutual agreement between the parties. If they cannot agree then the Judge will have to divide the property. The way they are going about things is not efficient or helpful. They should make a list of all property to be divided and than agree on a division.

Good luck!
